Throughout the year, East Cooper Community Outreach (ECCO) holds several seasonal initiatives to provide assistance and help to local neighbors. Heaters & Fans
Twice a year, ECCO has the opportunity to provide heating and cooling assistance to neighbors in need. In the winter, we’re able to provide space heaters and in the summer, we’re able to provide fans. Due to our limited supply, ECCO clients are only eligible to receive this service once every two years. Please call ECCO at (843) 849-9220 and ask about this program if your family needs help now.
Adopt-A-Family
Do you need holiday assistance for the children in your home?
East Cooper Community Outreach’s annual Adopt-A-Family program provides holiday hope and happiness through gift assistance to ECCO clients with children 18 years old and younger living in the household. Assistance for your family may include clothing, shoes, and wish-list items such as toys, electronics, hobbies/interests, sports items, and more. As a reminder, all applicants must be current clients of ECCO with up-to-date documents on file with our team. Note: The eligibility assessment deadline to become a current client for the 2024 program is Tuesday, October 1.
Applications are being accepted from October 1 to October 24 on a first-come, first-serve basis.

As in past years, we cannot guarantee your family will be adopted or that specific items will be gifted, as this is an assistance program rather than a free toy giveaway. All children must be 18 or younger and live in your household.

We are here for you to help make this holiday season a little more merry and bright for our ECCO families!
Holiday Meals
We know how special Thanksgiving is for families, which is why every November we distribute supplies for a full Thanksgiving meal to every ECCO client who requests assistance. The meal includes sides like green beans, mashed potatoes, stuffing, cornbread mix and of course a turkey! Last year, we provided a full Thanksgiving meal to over 500 local neighbors.
ECCO’s Thanksgiving meal distribution will run from November 4 through November 27. All participants must be current ECCO clients. Meals can be requested through ECCO’s SmartChoice Pantry software. Thanksgiving meals include 10 sides and a turkey or gift certificate for a turkey or ham (depending on availability) for your family to enjoy!
