Michael Burson – Board President
Mike was raised in Georgetown, Texas, receiving his secondary education at Georgetown High School before attending Southwestern University in Texas. Mike and his wife Carolyn have been residents of Mount Pleasant for ten years, and own M.D. Burson Consulting, LLC.
When Burson is not working or volunteering at ECCO he likes to spend his time outdoors, golfing, biking, or paddle boarding. The Bursons volunteer at ECCO because they are passionate about helping and serving people in their time of need. Mike and Carolyn served as co-chairs of the Steering Committee for ECCO’s Beyond Our Walls Capital Campaign.
Tim Grow – Board Vice President
Grow is the Office Managing Shareholder at Elliott Davis LLC in downtown Charleston, focusing on providing comprehensive assurance and management consulting services to a diverse customer base in the real estate, manufacturing, construction, and governmental industry sectors. He received his BS in Accounting at the University of South Carolina, as well as his Masters of Accountancy.
Grow served on the ECCO Board of Directors for three years before stepping away to assume the role of the Chairman of Trident United Way Board of Directors last year. He has also been a member of the Charleston Regional Development Alliance Community.
Andrew Davis – Board Treasurer
Drew is the CFO and an owner of Stavis Enterprises, Inc., which owns and operates several subsidiaries in the durable medical equipment, medical insurance claims management, and real estate investment arenas. Andrew serves as the Chief Financial Officer, where he oversees all of the financial and IT activities of the corporation. Andrew holds a Masters in Accountancy from the College of Charleston, and a BA in Business-Economics from Wofford College, a CPA and CGMA.
Elmire Raven
Current owner of “Get It Right With Raven, LLC”, which provides consulting to nonprofits as a trouble shooter and in the area of Board Development, etc. Prior to owning her own consulting company, Ms. Raven served as the Executive Director of My Sister’s House, Inc. from February 1991 to May 2017. She also held positions at Trident United Way, Georgia State University, and Trident Technical College. She holds a Masters in Counseling from Webster University, and a Bachelor of Social Work and Bachelor of Science (Criminal Justice) from Georgia State University. Ms. Raven has held numerous leadership positions on various boards and has received many honors/awards including 2017 SC Coalition Against Domestic Violence Visionary Voice Award and was named one of the 2016 50 Most Influential People in the Charleston Business Magazine.
Her life’s motto is, “Without God I can do nothing and let my living not be in vain.”
Danny Rowland
Danny is a native of Charleston, South Carolina and was raised in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. He received his early educational training in the public school systems of Charleston.Upon graduating from Murray Vocational School, he joined the United States Army and is a Vietnam Veteran.After his service in the Army, Mr. Rowland attended Trident Technical College in North Charleston, on the G I Bill and started a small business. The small business was owned by Mr. Rowland and two of his brothers. The company grew from two employees in 1971 to 75 employees in 1984. Mr. Rowland was responsible for production, scheduling, finance and overall growth of the company.
In 1985, Mr. Rowland sold his portion of the family business to his two brothers and went to work at Metal Trades, Inc., one of four major ship repair yards in Charleston, South Carolina. Mr. Rowland was President and CEO, responsible for taking the company from a $500,000.00 line of credit and $14,000,000.00 in sales to a $5,000,000.00 line of credit and $30,000,000.00 in sales. In addition, the company realized some of its most profitable years under the watchful eye of Mr. Rowland. In 1995, Mr. Rowland was asked by the State of South Carolina to consider privatizing the Charleston Naval Shipyard when the United States Navy pulled out of Charleston. Mr. Rowland, along with his two partners, Mr. Loy Stewart and Mr. Richard Gregory, submitted a proposal to the State of South Carolina to operate the Charleston Naval Shipyard and was awarded a lease to operate the shipyard. The new company would be called CMMC, LLC. CMMC, LLC grew from two tenants and 200 employees to 20 tenants and over 1,500 employees today.
Mr. Rowland has owned several businesses in the Charleston area and was named Ambassador to Economic Development for South Carolina by Governor Campbell in 1994 and again by Governor Haley in 2015.
Throughout the years, Mr. Rowland has been a consultant for small businesses starting out, as well as a financial consultant for some larger corporations. He enjoys appointing his time towards the development of others. He also enjoys mentoring high school students. Mr. Rowland has been a mentor to many students throughout the years and continues to be a mentor for many students today. In addition, Mr. Rowland is a certified private pilot. He attends Christ Our King Catholic Church. He is married with three daughters, two sons-in-law, and four grandchildren. They all currently reside in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina.
Rev. Monsignor James A. Carter, P.A. – ECCO Founder and Retired Pastor
Monsignor Jim Carter lived and worked almost his entire life in South Carolina, especially in the Low Country. Born on March 1, 1939 in Charleston, he attended the Cathedral School and Bishop England High School. Then, he attended Mount St. Mary’s College, Emmitsburg, MD, and received his undergraduate degree from St. Mary’s Seminary, St. Mary, KY. He completed his theological studies at St. Mary’s Seminary, Baltimore, MD, and was ordained to the priesthood on May 7, 1966.
He served in several parishes in South Carolina and, in 1989, he was named pastor of Christ Our King Parish where he served for many years. In the wake of Hurricane Hugo, Fr. Carter established, organized and funded the East Cooper Community Outreach (ECCO) to minister in an abiding way to victims of the September 21, 1989 natural disaster. In addition to his pastoral appointments, Msgr. Carter served the Diocese of Charleston in numerous positions, including Vicar General.
Dawn Baker
Dawn is a Registered Nurse, Director of Clinical Management and the CEO of Interim Healthcare franchises in Charleston, Columbia and Hilton Head. From 1995 to 2004, Dawn served with the Charleston Police Department, ultimately holding the position of Corporal of Police. After serving the community for 9 years, Dawn left to pursue her life-long dream of becoming a nurse – earning her associate’s degree from Trident Technical College. In 2006, Dawn achieved her second dream of becoming an entrepreneur and owning her own healthcare business. Dawn along with her husband, Rob, and one other partner own Interim Healthcare with over 280 employees.
Dr. Rosa Barnes
Dr. Rosa was born and raised in Southeast Wisconsin. She enjoys taking the time to establish lasting and trusting relationships with each one of her patients. She takes great pride in helping to put an anxious child at ease and working to make their dental experience a positive and fun one! Dr. Rosa specializes in comprehensive dental prevention and treatment of children from birth to adulthood.
She holds a BS from Marquette University, a DDS from Marquette University School of Dentistry, and spent her Advanced Pediatric Residency at the University of Florida. Outside of dentistry, Rosa and her husband, Derek, enjoy spending time walking the beach, playing tennis, and boating.
John Charles Darby
J.C. is a Charleston native, earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina in 2012 and his Master of Business Administration in real estate development from the Citadel in 2014. Darby is now involved in the community through his family’s business, The Beach Company where he is currently the Development Manager.
Tom Fitzgerald
Tom made his move from St. Louis to Charleston in 2015, accepting a position at Southern Crown Partners as the Vice President of Marketing. Fitzgerald, along with his team, oversees a large, diverse portfolio marketing billion-dollar brands throughout Georgia and South Carolina.
Lisa Glavin
Lisa is a Clinical Therapist, LPCS at Mt. Pleasant Psychiatry and My Sisters House, as well as the Executive Director of Sunrise Children’s School on Sullivan’s Island. As a Licensed Professional Counseling Supervisor, she supervises interns and carries a caseload which primarily includes client assessments and ongoing therapy sessions for adult domestic violence victims. Lisa holds a Masters of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Webster University and a BA in Criminal Justices/Pre-Law from Kent State University. She is also a member of the Autism of Charleston and Ladders boards of directors.
Carla Gregg
Carla was born and raised in Mount Pleasant, SC where she still resides today. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Management from Voorhees College and a Masters Degree in Human Resource Development from Webster University. She has also obtained a Property Manager License from the SC Real Estate Commission. She currently works as a property manager within the Charleston Area.
She is a member of Olive Branch AME Church. She has lived in Four Mile all her life, one of the oldest African American settlement communities. She is the mother of one and GiGi to the perfect pair of boy/girl twins in her spare time.
Cindy Hollar
Cindy received her Bachelor of Arts from Millsaps College before becoming a CEO, Vice President of Sales, and a Sales Leader in her professional experiences; she is now a realtor with Carolina One Real Estate. Hollar has a passion to help make a difference in the lives of those in their time of need.
Dr. John Maize, Jr.
Dr. Maize is the Laboratory Director, Dermatopathologist, and Dermatologist at Trident Dermatology, as well as an Associate Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the Medical University of South Carolina. He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina Honors College before attending medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina. He completed his Dermatology residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. Dr. Maize is board certified in both Dermatology and Dermatopathology. He is a member of multiple local, state, and national medical organizations, including the Charleston Dermatological Society, South Carolina Dermatological Association, American Academy of Dermatology, and American Society of Dermatopathology.
Tonya McIntyre
Tonya S. McIntyre is a Wadmalaw Island native and the Charleston County School District’s Director of Community Outreach. Tonya is currently in her 29th year as an educator with more than two decades of experience as a passionate high school mathematics teacher, where she emphasized equity and opportunity for students by creating environments that served their academic, social, and cultural needs. She worked for CCSD in a variety of capacities after leaving the classroom, including Title 1 Parent Advocate, District Instructional Specialist, and Acceleration Schools Teacher Recruiter. Tonya holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Savannah State College and a Master in Public Education Management from Yale School of Management.
Dick Query
A resident of Mount Pleasant, Dick has lived in the Lowcountry most of his life. In 2001, Dick retired after 29 years with Krisy Kreme Donuts, serving as a licensed associate and part owner/manager. He and his wife, Susanne, are members of Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church, where he’s served as a deacon, elder, choir member, and group leader/teacher. Prior to his time on the ECCO board, he volunteered as a part-time therapist, pastoral care minister, and Hospice of Charleston home visitor. He received his Bachelors of Business Administration at Presbyterian College and Masters of Education-Clinical Counseling from The Citadel.
Outside of his volunteer time, he enjoys reading, Bible study, sailing, fishing, boating and travel.

Neal Stanley
Neal has over 40 years of experience in the management and direction of insurance companies and insurance agencies. For the last 15 years he was associated with United Valley Insurance Services, Inc. as a director, consultant and principal officer of the company. In those capacities, he assisted in the development and implementation of United Valley’s long-range business plan.
During his tenure United Valley became a dominant insurance agency network and it developed a large agency operation. United Valley sold in 2014, but the principals stayed to manage the transition. Stanley retired from United Valley in 2017 and reopened his consulting business.
Palmetto Management Advisors LLC is a consulting company that provides consulting services to insurance networks and assists insurance agencies in perpetuation. Neal’s background in the insurance business is extensive. He served as President, CEO and Director of three insurance companies. He was a partner in an insurance general agency. Before joining United Valley, he developed a consulting firm that advised insurance companies, reinsurance companies and general agencies on business planning, product development, captive management and reinsurance placement. He also is an attorney admitted to practice in California. Mr. Stanley has served on Boards of Directors of various industry organizations.
