Marketing & Community Engagement Manager

This full-time position (40 hours per week) focuses on a range of projects and campaigns in support of East Cooper Community Outreach’s comprehensive marketing initiatives and the annual fundraising plan. Reporting to the Director of Development & Marketing at ECCO, this position will support the organization’s fundraising and marketing efforts by elevating ECCO’s brand, growing public awareness, helping in the organization, and executing seasonal fundraising and community engagement events. This position plays an integral role in helping the organization strengthen its outreach efforts by building relationships with current, as well as new businesses, agencies, and groups in the community.

As a member of the Development & Marketing team, this position will be a key external face in the community with a passion for promoting ECCO’s mission and helping to secure the resources needed to sustain the organization. This position will also supervise one part-time position, ECCO’s Marketing Specialist.

This position must possess an appreciation of service to the community, empathy, and a passion for ECCO’s mission. This individual will interact with ECCO volunteers, staff, board members, clients, donors and community partners. The individual in this role must maintain the utmost professionalism to protect patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPPA regulations and ECCO confidentiality policies. The ideal candidate will act with a proactive mindset always striving for efficiency and process improvement.

This position will increase the awareness of ECCO in the community to potential and existing donors, partners, and volunteers to help the organization advance its mission.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Marketing & Development – 40%
    • Day to day management of the organization’s social media campaigns (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) and website
    • Plan and implement communications and outreach efforts to increase public awareness, maximize exposure, and educate the community of ECCO’s mission and necessity through strategic marketing campaigns
    • Responsible for producing three yearly issues of Neighborhood News, ECCO’s print and digital newsletter, as well as monthly donor, volunteer, and client communications
    • Actively share client and volunteer stories of positive outcomes
    • Proactively engage local news representatives and other media sources for ECCO coverage through regular press releases
    • Coordinate photo, video, and digital image library
    • Maintain marketing and public relations calendar for internal planning purposes
    • Monitor digital properties and report relevant metrics and analytics
    • Manage and develop ads for fundraising appeals, general marketing, events, and more
    • Ensure brand consistency while curating organizational messaging and content to ensure accurate and updated communications across all outlets including press releases, newsletters, marketing materials, website, reporting, and more
    • Assist in the cultivation and stewardship of ECCO’s donors through personal visits, calls, e-mails, and serving as a contact for current and prospective donors
    • Aid in the implementation and execution of ECCO’s comprehensive Annual Fund plan to ensure goals are met for each source of contributed income including fundraising events; grants; gifts from businesses, civic organizations and individuals; direct mail campaigns; online giving; and more.
    • Assist in the success of the Annual Fund through fundraising events, seasonal appeals, in-person fundraising initiatives, and more.
    • Support ECCO’s Beyond Our Walls capital campaign efforts and initiatives, as assigned by the Director of Development and Executive Director
  • Event Support – 20%
    • Assist and contribute to the planning, execution, and success of ECCO’s annual fundraisers (Golf Tournament & Gala), donor and volunteer events, and other special initiatives throughout the year
    • Participate and support the committee members of each fundraising event
    • Responsible for the planning and execution of Life Ring Society events, to be held throughout the year
  • Community Engagement – 20%
    • Represent ECCO at community fairs, expos, church events, etc., while also building a team of volunteers to represent the organization at similar events
    • Create and strengthen relationships with community businesses, neighborhoods, individuals, and supporters
    • Meet with current partners, while actively pursuing new strategic relationships to increase awareness of ways to support ECCO’s programs and services
    • Present and coordinate ECCO programs for large groups. Schedule the Executive Director and Director of Development to speak to community and civic groups
  • Administrative Tasks – 15%
    • Supervise one part-time position, encouraging teamwork and establishing consistent, program performance standards and accountability
    • Serve as an advocate for ECCO’s mission always mindful of the organization’s client-centered philosophy
    • Play a key role on the Development & Marketing team, consisting of the Director of Development & Marketing, Volunteer Manager, Marketing & Community Engagement Manager, and Marketing Specialist
    • Attend All-Staff and department meetings as well as ECCO events as required
    • Serve on internal and external committees as needed for the benefit of the organization
  • Other Duties as Assigned – 5%
    • This position supports other development and marketing initiatives as assigned by the Director of Development & Marketing


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 2 years minimum of work experience; bachelor’s or associate’s degree.
  • Background in marketing, community/public relations, communications, event management for nonprofits
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience managing social media accounts for businesses.
  • Creative, curious, and flexible, with the ability to work on several projects at the same time
  • A high degree of initiative and ability to work independently without close daily supervision
  • A passion for helping others and serving the community
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Gmail
  • Previous use with a CRM platform or donor database management (CharityProud is a plus)
  • Experience with WordPress and MailChimp is a plus
  • Proficiency with layout and design, and video (desired familiarity with Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and/or Canva)

This full-time (37-40 hours a week), benefits-eligible position is part of the Development and Marketing team, reporting directly to the Director of Development & Marketing. Typical work hours vary from 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Additionally, this position may be required to attend a limited number of special events in the evenings or on weekends. Route Driver & Wellness Pantry Associate

This part-time position is responsible for the daily pick-up, loading/unloading, stocking, and accountability of food donations from ECCO’s community supporters and partner organizations. Individuals with delivery, grocery, inventory, or retail experience are encouraged to apply. This position requires positive, public interaction with ECCO’s retail partners, partner agencies, clients, donors, staff and volunteers. Applicants must have an excellent driving record and the ability to repetitively lift up to 50 pounds.

Work hours will range from 7:30 AM – 2:00 PM Monday- Friday. Exact days and times to be determined. This position reports directly to the Wellness Pantry Manager.

EDUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • A valid South Carolina driver’s license – *must be able to provide a current ten-year MVR (driving record) without any moving violations in the past three years
  • Must be willing to participate in a background check
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. frequently and repetitively
  • Comfortable working in a warehouse environment and in extreme hot or cold temperatures
  • Willing and able to use your personal cell phone for email, text, Gmail calendar, and GPS

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Check email at the start of each shift to stay apprised of scheduling changes and updates
  • Pick-up donated food at various locations in the East Cooper area, including grocery stores, schools, churches, and businesses
  • Load and unload food donations to and from ECCO’s refrigerated van to ECCO’s Wellness Pantry
  • Track and record weight of received donated food
  • Organize and stock warehouse shelves in the Wellness Pantry
  • Follow assigned routes working efficiently to meet the physical demands of the position
  • Be knowledgeable about food safety and ensure ECCO’s compliance with stated guidelines
  • Maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of ECCO’s van
  • Attend organizational events and meetings as directed by your supervisor
  • Other duties as assigned

During certain times of the year, the hours may expand to meet the demand for additional donation pickups. The Associate may also be required to attend a limited number of special events in the evenings or on weekends, including the first Saturday of each month from 8:30-noon

Client Intake Coordinator

ECCO is looking for a qualified individual to fill a part-time role as a Client Intake Coordinator. This position will require a minimum of 20 hours a week and no more than 25 hours a week, maximum. The exact schedule will be determined upon hiring and may look like Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (9:00 AM to 2:00 PM), and Friday (9:00 AM to 12:00 PM).

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum two-year college degree
  • Spanish speaking, a plus
  • Healthcare background preferred
  • HIPAA and PHI (personal health information) compliant
  • Certification in Care Coordination, CHES, or CHW, preferred
  • Knowledge of Google workspace and Microsoft Office, specifically, Excel
  • Knowledge of community health resources in the Charleston/Tri-county Region
  • Two years+ of medical office experience such as a Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant, Medical Office Coordinator/Receptionist, Patient Engagement Specialist, Community Health Worker, Case Management, or Care Coordination

THE ROLE AND THE WORK:
This role has two primary responsibilities. The first is client eligibility verification and the second is administrative duties.

  • Client Eligibility:
    • Fielding/ navigating incoming client calls for ECCO services
    • Screening client eligibility, income, insurance status, and geographic location
    • Consistent and timely communication with clients and potential clients
    • Obtaining supporting documentation
    • Uploading supporting documents into the client database (Charity Tracker) within 48 hours of a client’s assessment
    • Deeming eligibility of services for health services clients
    • Referrals to Medical/Dental clinics outside of ECCO’s Service area and other community resources when needed
    • Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to engage resources and strategies to address medical, functional, and social barriers to care
  • Administrative:
    • Assisting with clinic administrative duties, including answering the phone, scheduling appointments, and making appointment reminder calls
    • Providing data entry into our various client and medical software systems
