Budgeting & Education
ECCO offers a range of educational classes for adults interested in improving computer skills, pursuing a GED or other academic degrees, and learning money management. We want to help you pursue your long-term dreams, which can be achieved through responsible financial spending and savings habits. Listed below are ECCO’s key programs that provide opportunities to repair credit, earn matching funds for asset development, and move towards economic stability.
- Budgeting Workshop – All financial assistance recipients are required to complete this budgeting 101 course. (Currently not available. ECCO is hopeful to begin offering again after the pandemic.)
- Computer and Keyboarding Class
- Money Smart – The Money Smart Workshop is a 12-week course that teaches the basics of borrowing credit, how to track spending, how to discover new ways to save and work with a bank, and how to clean up bad credit. Money Smart is an essential step toward financial independence and a requirement for ADP program participants. Offered quarterly or online at FDIC: Money Smart.
Legal Workshop Series
Thanks to our partnership with Charleston Pro Bono, ECCO hosts seminars that cover a variety of legal topics, such as expungement and family litigation. Each workshop is led by an expert from the community – we appreciate the generosity of these attorneys for dedicating their time to help others. You do not need a referral from ECCO to obtain these services.
