Are You Prepared?

Hurricane season has arrived and the worst time for severe weather is still ahead. It remains critical to prepare for the upcoming months in the Lowcountry.

ECCO will host two events in July with local disaster preparedness experts and government officials, to inform and educate the community on hurricane preparedness and recovery.

Join ECCO’s Disaster Preparedness Coordinator, Ivan Lund, and the Charleston County Emergency Management Department for the 2017 Neighborhood Distribution-Information Point (NDIP) Training event on Wednesday, July 19 at 6pm at the Greater Goodwill A.M.E. Church in Mount Pleasant. Training will include the proper ways for neighborhood sites to prepare and execute community assistance and disseminate messaging to the community in the event of a hurricane or natural disaster. New to the training this year is setting up a “mock” NDIP to provide a more realistic experience for volunteers.

We also encourage members of the community to join ECCO and Live5News Chief Meteorologist, Bill Walsh, Monday, July 31 at 7pm for the 11th Annual Hurricane Forum to learn valuable tips and hear directly from a panel of experts – featuring safety and emergency management officials, government agencies and other community organizations. The forum will also be held at Greater Goodwill A.M.E. Church in Mount Pleasant.
