Celebrating ECCO Volunteers

On a beautiful Sunday afternoon, friends and family gathered together to honor the dedicated volunteers who make it possible for ECCO to help thousands of families in financial distress every year. The Stone Soup Award is given to an individual who has made a significant impact toward the greater good of the community through his or her association with ECCO. Sponsored by Wando River Grill, this annual celebration keeps growing because of the extraordinary volunteer work happening at ECCO. Two new award categories were added this year and we recognized seven outstanding people, along with our 11th Annual Stone Soup recipient!

Feed a Family for $35

This Thanksgiving you can make a difference for local families in financial distress. ECCO needs donations through financial contributions as well as food items to support this year’s Thanksgiving Program. Funds will directly benefit our low-income neighbors for the upcoming holiday season, allowing ECCO to purchase turkeys for as many families as possible. Diaper Bank

Junior League of Charleston Diaper Drop

ECCO was the fortunate recipient of 24,476 diapers thanks to the Junior League of Charleston and their diaper drive initiative during National Diaper Need Awareness Week, which took place September 25 to October 1. The Junior League of Charleston also distributed diapers throughout the week to other partner organizations including Florence Crittenton and Lowcountry CARES.

Hunger Action Month

September is Hunger Action Month and we hope you will join ECCO as we stand together with Feeding America and the nationwide network of food banks to fight hunger.  Most people don’t realize here in Charleston County we have a 14.9% food insecurity rate (55,390 food insecure individuals in the Lowcountry) which is sadly above the national average. At ECCO, we work with men and women each and every day who are faced with making the difficult choice between buying food, paying their rent, or purchasing their needed prescriptions.
